Rally Caps Hearing Loss Awareness Day Events to Launch at Citifield on May 1st

April 25th….Join us on Sunday, May 1st at 7:08pm to kick off National Better Hearing and Speech Month at Citi Field! The purpose of the Rally Caps Hearing Loss Awareness Day events is to promote hearing health and safe listening, and to make people aware that in the year 2022 individuals with hearing loss can have access to listening and spoken language thanks to cochlear implants, technology, and hard work.

Our hope is that these events will provide much needed information, resources and free hearing screenings to anyone who has even the smallest doubt that their or a loved one’s hearing may be compromised. The more tickets sold each stadium event, the more money raised for the hearing loss association, project or school connected to the event, so bring your gang!

Lee Cipolla, director of the upcoming film Rally Caps, will be catching first pitch thrown by Rex Popick who was born profoundly deaf and received cochlear implants before the age of one. He received speech therapy at the Center for Hearing and Communication beginning in infancy.

Come to see the Mets take on the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:08pm. $5 dollars from every ticket sold THROUGH THIS OFFER will benefit the Center for Hearing and Communication.

You may purchase tickets through this link:

The Rally Caps team will offer free hearing screenings to anyone 10 years old and over. The hearing screenings are provided by the Center for Hearing and Communication in collaboration with the Children’s Hearing Institute. Look for the CHC mobile van that will be located in Mets Plaza outside of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. Masks and proof of Covid vaccination required for screening. Gates open at 5:08 p.m.!

Rally Caps events are sponsored by the upcoming movie Rally Caps, although still in post-production, Rally Caps promises to be a movie with a strong mission. Starring Oscar-nominee Judd Hirsch (Uncut Gems, ABC’s The Goldbergs), Amy Smart (Star Girl ) and Carson Minniear (Palmer), Rally Caps is a coming-of-age family film based on true events that focuses on a young baseball player who has his dreams of pitching for a Little League travel team but is derailed by a devastating injury on the field.

After a long recovery process, he goes off to summer camp with his older brother where he befriends a deaf catcher and his sister, both cochlear implant recipients. Based on their own experiences of living with a disability, the brother and sister help him overcome his anxiety and fear of returning to the mound.

Rally Caps also stars Cathy Ladman (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and former Major League Deaf player, Curtis Pride. Directed and written for the screen by Cipolla, Rally Caps is adapted from the book of the same name by father-daughter writing team, Stephen J. Cutler and Jodi Michelle Cutler. The film is being produced by Stephen J. Cutler, Katherine Borda, Amy Williams, Eileen Jones, William Garcia and Jodi Michelle Cutler.
